What is Perinatal Mental Health?
Perinatal Mental Health is a term that encompasses all the stages of motherhood. From conception, to pregnancy, and throughout the first year postpartum. People are most familiar with the term, Postpartum Depression, but there is actually a range of maternal mental health issues that can occur during a woman’s transition into motherhood. Through infertility, pregnancy loss, anxiety, depression and feelings of isolation or anger that can emerge throughout the perinatal period.
